Wrestling coaches and officials have been advised to be updated with the latest rules and regulations as well as training methods of the sport.

This advise was given to the coaches and other technical officials by the governing body of wrestling in Nigeria -- the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), during the clinic for coaches and technical officials ahead of the 3rd Governor Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics.

The Technical Director Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Ohaike Darmian, stated that it's imperative for coaches and officials to be abreast with latest rules and regulations governing the sport that is over 2000 years old.

Ohaike Darmian advocated for officials to always be deligent, focused at all times while stressing that there is always room for improvement.

"This clinic is very important because sports policies are the rules and guidelines that govern the activities and operations of sports organizations and events. They are essential for ensuring safety, fairness, quality, and accountability in the sports sector." He noted.

He further told the coaches and officials to be ready for changes as it may be required. "However, sports policies are not static and need to be regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the changing needs, expectations, and challenges of the sports environment. If you do not follow the foregoing, global practices will leave you behind."

"So we call on coaches and officials to always equip themselves with current rules and regulations." Darmian emphasized.

The President Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Honourable Daniel Igali, in his remarks, added that rules and guidelines are regularly reviewed based on the findings and recommendations from the previous steps.

Igali maintained that officials should prioritize the most urgent and important issues, which are the rules that can be found on the United World Wrestling website or official magazines from UWW.

He urged them to communicate updated rules to their athletes and ensure that they are aware and understand them as he reiterates athletes are what they are thought.
