Top Edo State Sports Director extends condolences to Kano State Sports Commission, on death of 22 members of Team Kano

The Executive Director, Sports Development and Operations, Edo State, Sabina Chikere expressed her condolences to the families of the 22 members of Team Kano who died in a tragic incident on Saturday and to the Kano State Sports Commission.

She made this public on Saturday night following the news of the sad and painful death of 22 members of Team Kano who died in a fatal accident while returning from the just concluded National Sports Festival, held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The bus conveying the Kano State contingent skied of a bridge enroute to Kano State killing 19 on the spot leaving others athletes and officials injured.

“My heart goes out to the Kano State Sports Commission and to the families of the victims, it's sad, life is like a mist, May God Almighty rest their souls, it's so heartbreaking and painful,” Mrs. Sabina Chikere said.

Mrs. Chikere called on God Almighty to console the Kano State Sports Commission, the families of the bereaved and the sports loving people of the State and to grant the souls of the victims eternal rest.

“I pray that God Almighty consoles their families and the Kano State Sports Commission and grant eternal rest to the departed,” she expressed.

The Edo State director of sports, explained that she was close friends with some of the victims, adding their love for sports and patriotism will never be forgotten.

“It really hurts when I remember how we were together in Abeokuta competing at National Sports Festival, winning medals, and they didn't even get back to their families to rejoice with them,” she said.

She prayed for quick recovery for the injured ones involved in the accident.

“Rest in peace and may God grant their families fortitude to bear their loss,” Mrs. Chikere added.
